an early morning playdate

My niece landed on my doorstep at 7:30 this morning for a wee visit. We had so much fun! She legitimately beat my socks off in Chess (yes, she's six!) and we played Monopoly until we grew weary of the wheelin' and dealin'.

Our next order of business was to visit Fort Needham park where we saw a downy woodpecker (with his sweet red cap), learned all about the Halifax explosion and saw a man playing bagpipes. We played on the swings and taught each other songs. It was pretty much perfect.
