a little frivolity

Hello there. I have had so much on the go lately and have been so busy. I have at least five things I could be blogging about but I am dead tired. So instead, I am choosing to blog about something frilly, beautiful and blue.

Behold the Best Dress Ever. You can find it here.
I think this dress deserves a bottle of wine and a warm breeze. And maybe a midnight dance under the stars too. Yes, definitely stars.

an adobe night

During my most recent visit to Chapters I leafed through a book called Conversations With God by Neale Walsch. I only skimmed the first chapter but something I read leapt off the pages and into my heart.

In brief, the author said that in this life we have only one obligation to ourselves and to God - to live our lives with truth, joy and love.

For me, this was an "of course!" moment; I have been thinking of these three words and what they mean ever since. I'm also afraid to forget them. So tonight I opened up Illustrator and set about trying to create something athsetically pleasing that I can eventually print, frame and hang in my bedroom once the re-decorating process begins.

I'm not sure if either of these are a winner, but at least I have the ball in motion. AND I've learned loads about Adobe Illustrator which never hurts. >:)

welcome spring!

This morning as I clicked through my regular Internet haunts, I stumbled upon this wonderful quote:

Next time a sunrise steals your breath or a meadow of flowers leave you speechless, remain that way. Say nothing, and listen as heaven whispers, "Do you like it? I did it just for you." - Max Lucado
An appropriate thought as we rejoice watching small green things poke through the soil and delicate leaves unfurl. Here are a few flower pictures I took in honour of this new season. Welcome Spring!

who knew!?

Remember my happy spot? I made an amazing discovery there today! See the tall spindly twig tickling my fish's chin? Well, if you look closely guess what you'll find? Roots! Beautiful, delicate, pink roots sprouting in every direction.

Amazing! I had no idea plants could do this! Or, at least no idea that my spindly twig with curly little leaves would do this! Are all roots pink? If not, why are these roots pink? OOOoOOOOo... so many questions.

Anyway, now I wonder what I'm supposed to do. I certainly can't compost it, it would be like plant abortion. Am I supposed to plant it in a pot? Any thoughts?

I like how the baby pictures turned out. It was neat taking pictures of something through glass and water. It looks like I added the glass texture in photoshop but nope, that's real life folks. As my friend Greg G would say, "SO cool." >:)

late at night the computer screen flickrs...

A few of my favourites coming at you from a late night flickr session. I love the delicate, vintage feel of all these photos. I know there's a slick way to display them, but it's almost 3 in the morning and I'm too sleepy to figure it out... but never too sleepy for inspiration. Click on the image to go to the photographers' photostreams and prepare to lose hours of your day, or perhaps hours of your sleep. >:)

it's good to dream...

...so check me out, dreaming I'm already a professional photographer with my fancy pants photos. But let's face it -it's not hard to take a nice picture when you're working with such beautiful models. xo.

spring is in the air

Today felt like spring. It was vest-wearing, not jacket-wearing, weather. The wind was gentle and the sun just a little bit warmer. Yep, Mother Nature is on to something good here.

I took a stroll through Point Pleasant Park where you get to walk along the shore and stare out into the Atlantic ocean. I am so acutely aware of how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful city where the ocean is a 10 minute walk away.

I had my camera with me, but today was more about being outside and soaking up the awesome than taking pictures.

I'll post two photos, just to prove I was there. Apparently I am on a square kick these days.

A Happy Spot

I cleaned the dickens out of my kitchen today. No crumb stood a chance! There's something about cleaning that soothes the soul, don't you agree?

Some of my flowers needed to be re-arranged because they were wilting. Now I have a new happy spot that makes my heart swell whenever I look at it. :)

You know, I don't normally keep plants because I generally have zero success. I killed a cactus once. But I think I could get used to some greenery on my windowsills. Perhaps I'll give it a go!

I thought it might be a nice to save my roses.
Here they are hanging upside down.

My lovely PINK daisy and friends.

Thinking Pink

Today I am loving all things soft and feminine. For example, my new favourite blog Bliss and this picture of delicate curls and lace from Gabriela Camerotti's photostream on flickr. Over the next few weeks I will be re-decorating my bedroom and I'm having a very hard time thinking anything but pink. Envisioning a cotton candy room and a bed piled high with big fluffy blankets pleases me to no end. We shall see. >:)

A Chapter Closes

It's been a few days since I've last posted. You'll need to have patience with me over the next few weeks as there are a lot of changes going on in my life right now.

Dennis and I have decided to go our separate ways. We've had a wonderful three years but recognize that our lives are heading in different directions. My friends and family have been amazing in their support and love. Change is always hard and it's nice to know I have so many incredible people I can lean on.

I've received some really beautiful flowers and I love looking at them. They're so delicate and graceful. It seems fitting that this life change comes right before spring, the season of rebirth.

Here are a few close-ups of my pretty flowers. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
