charlie turns one

I love birthday parties! And this one was especially fun because it was held at On the Grow in Bayer's Lake and the birthday girl was the cutest ever! There were cupcakes and cake, slides and things to climb on and of course, proud grandparents with cameras.

This was my first time shooting a party and I thought it was super fun. Thank-you Lindsay for inviting me to share this special day with you and all your lovely family and friends!

hannah's 1st birthday

Have I mentioned lately how much pressure I've been feeling due to my enormous backlog of photos? I've been doing a little bit of editing but it's been fairly willy-nilly. So today I decided to start at the very beginning (it's a very good place to start!) and will continue chipping away at my pile every day. This way, nothing will get missed.

So... that means I start with September 5th - Miss Hannah Marie's first birthday. Isn't she just a doll?

I love this series of photos of Dad playing peek-a-boo. They both look so happy! (Click to make the image bigger)

the weckmans

As promised, here are a few more from the Weckman's family get-together. What a great bunch of good lookin' people!

I don't recall what's going on here. To be honest, I'm not sure I knew what was going on while it was happening. But I love how she's laughing and he's pointing. So fun!

This is the whole lot of them... They're pointing at the guests of honour in the middle - the lovely couple was celebrating a very significant milestone: 60 years of marriage!

You can tell by the sparkle in his eye and her radiant smile that they're very happy. And perhaps that laughter is the key ingredient to a long, happy marriage.

And how could I not include at least one more of sweet little Ella?

all about ella

About a month ago my friend Meaghan asked me to take a few photos at her family reunion. I (finally) finished editing them today and while I got a few great shots of the family (which I'll post tomorrow) I absolutely fell in love with these four pictures of Ella.

The youngest (and first grandchild!) is always the star of the show
. And the love surrounding Ella is undeniable. Look how beautiful Meaghan looks smiling at her little girl. xo.

You may have noticed that I'm experimenting with my editing techniques lately. I tried making the above three images look like old photos you might pull out of a shoebox. I like the effect but they also turned out nicely in straight colour and black & white. The one below simply melts my heart.

this guy makes me lol

Meet my friend Shawn. He's funny. Not funny weird, funny ha-ha. He performs at Yuk Yuks on Wednesday nights and boy, what a well spent five bucks. There are a few awkward moments watching comedian hopefuls gain their footing... but mainly it's awesome because you get to laugh until your face hurts. And in all seriousness - we can judge but really and truly, who has the talent (and courage!) to get up there themselves? Total respect.

Shawn is definitely the funniest guy on stage. He rocks it every time and I'm super proud. I hope you like the photos I snapped Shawn! It was very quick turn-around time because I only took ten. (I was too busy being entertained!). xo.

PS: This is where I must reiterate how in love I am with my new 80-200 lens. OoooOOOOOOooo it's so niiiiiice.

cooper's wedding {the stagette}

Last night was Cooper's stagette. We started the day by making ourselves beautiful at Remedy Spa downtown on Granville Street. The girls that work there are super sweet and we left glowing and feeling rejuvenated.

I actually only have "official" photos of the this part of the day's events because as we all know, stagettes are BIG parties and while I was enjoying this BIG night out, I didn
't want to worry about my BIG expensive, camera. >:)

The do-it-yourself facial bar is a real treat and you should give it a try. It was my first-ever facial and I was over the moon to share it with all these wonderful girls. xo.

cooper's wedding {the shower}

I get to document all the behind-the-scenes action of one of my dearest friend's wedding this summer! How stoked am I?! The first set of photos are of her (very fun) wedding shower. All the girls were lovely (and patient with my incessant flashing... of my camera that is - hah!).

We had a lot of fun: making paper cranes, making wedding dresses out of toilet paper and reading our fortunes with the obligatory "...in bed" attached which always guarantees loads of giggles an
d snickers. So much fun! So much love! I can barely handle it all...! xo.
